Mr. Johnson grew up in Bryan, Texas in the 50's when segregation was the law of the land. He graduated high school in 1960 and joined the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter. Mr. Johnson moved with his family to San Antonio in 1966. He attended St. Philips College and later graduated from St. Mary's University in 1974, having attended part time as a working parent. He has worked at the City of SA Public Library System as well as the Texas Department of Human Resources. Since 1984, however, he has been self-employed. Along the way, he has served the community as a member of The San Antonio Housing Trust Fund Board and The City of San Antonio Firefighters and Police Officers Civil Service Commission. For several years, Mr. Johnson wrote a weekly column called "Hear Me Out" for The San Antonio Informer newspaper where he focused on issues of the day. He is a proud life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the NAACP. He is married to the former Emma Douglas from Milano, Texas and has two adult children and four grandchildren.
