"Judge Alito, Senate Confirmation, and the Future of the American Constitution" featured speakers Professor Peter Rubin (ACS Founder, and Georgetown Professor) and Jeff Berman (Western Regional Director of the People for the American Way, and Former Counsel to Senator Chuck Schumer who serves on the Judiciary Committee). Professor Rubin talked about the substantive portion of the hearings, focusing on how Alito's confirmation will affect the domestic spying program. Jeff Berman talked about the politcal side of the Alito confirmation, concentrating on why ideology matters, giving examples of past Confirmations. The event was then opened up to the students for questions. Both speakers urged the students to call their Representative (specifically Feinstein) to support a filibuster of Alito. The event was attended by approximately 75 students.
