Announcing the Podcast of Emory ACS February and March 2006 Events on the Emory ACS webblog. Emory University ACS and webblog editor Michael Phillips (1L) invite the national ACS community to check out podcasts of three recent events at www.heartbreaking.org/american constitution society.
On February 23rd, we hosted "A Debate on the Legality of the President's Wiretaps." Professor Neil Kinkopf, professor of law at Georgia State University and Co-Chair for the Separation of Powers and Federalism Issue Group, debated Professor Robert F. Turner, professor of law at the University of Virgina.

ACS hosts First Annual Open Mic Coffee House at Emory Law School!

On april 5th, the Emory Student ACS Chapter hosted what we hope will be the first annual ACS open-mic coffee house at Emory Law School. The event was a total success! Javavino, a locally-owned, fair-trade coffee house served coffee at the event, and in between performances by a live band, Emory Law Students got up and performed their various artistic talents! In addition, faculty members such as Martha Fineman and Carolyn Wright lent their support by displaying their artwork. The ACS coffee-house provided an opportunity for students to socialize, and also served as a thankyou to all the students who helped make Emory ACS a huge success in its inaugural year. Moreover, the narrow interpretation of the law which ACS seeks to challenge is behind much of the impetus to deny funding for the arts nationally and locally. Artistic endeavors (like song-writing, photography, painting, dancing etc.) are privileges which Emory ACS believes are extremely important to nurture. Thanks to the more than 75 students who attended! We hope to see you next year!
