"Maintain Iowa's Fair and Impartial Judiciary" presented by ACS, AJS, Justice at Stake, Lambda Legal, & Drake Law School
Lambda Legal, along with co-sponsors American Constitution Society, American Judicature Society, Justice at Stake and Drake Law School, presented a free panel discussion and workshop examining Iowa's judiciary and the effects on the judiciary from extremist attacks when the courts rule on issues such as marriage for same-sex couples.
The morning session (9:30 - 11:50 a.m.) was a panel discussion with speakers including U.S. Magistrate Judge Celeste M. Bremer; Iowa District Ct. Judge Jeffrey Neary; and Chuck Hurley, President of the Iowa Family Policy Center. The morning was open to the public and offered free CLE credit for members of the Iowa bar (approval pending). The afternoon session (1:00 - 3:30 p.m.) was by invite-only and was a training session about how to protect your court system from political attacks. The afternoon was moderated by Lambda Legal and featured speakers from the Human Rights Campaign, the Interfaith Alliance, the Justice at Stake campaign and the American Judicature Society.
