On June 10, 2008, approximately 60 members and supporters of ACS'
Chicago Lawyer Chapter attended a summer kick-off event featuring Dean
Harold Hongju Koh of Yale Law School. Judge Peter Flynn made
introductory remarks, and chapter board member G. Marc Whitehead
introduced Dean Koh. The event was held at the offices of Mayer Brown
LLP.
In addition to serving as Dean of Yale Law School, Dean Koh is also
Gerard C. and Bernice Latrobe Smith Professor of International Law.
Dean Koh's remarks focused on the importance of a change in U.S.
international affairs and in the way U.S. courts view international law.
Dean Koh also stressed the importance of the next president's power to
nominate justices to the Supreme Court, and the importance of joining
and supporting organizations like ACS. Following Dean Koh's remarks,
attendees enjoyed refreshments.
