The theme for the 2009 ACS Annual Convention is "Keeping Faith with the Constitution," which is also the title of a new book being published by ACS and authored by legal scholars Goodwin Liu, Pamela Karlan, and Christopher Schroeder. The authors present in accessible language a compelling and common-sense approach to constitutional interpretation - one that is faithful to the Constitution's words and principles and that explains why our founding document is the world's most enduring written constitution, able to address the changing needs and conditions of our society, just as the Framers intended. Every person attending the convention will not only receive a copy of this book but also a companion volume being published by ACS at the same time, "It is a Constitution We Are Expounding: Collected Writings on Interpreting Our Founding Document."

Convention attendees will also receive “The Constitution in 2020,” a new book edited by law professors Jack Balkin and Reva Siegel. The Constitution in 2020 is a collection of essays by leading constitutional scholars regarding the directions that constitutional law should take in the decades to come.

This year's Convention is sure to be the best yet. Coming at a key time in our nation's history, with potentially dramatic changes in law and policy, the Seventh Annual National Convention will provide participants with the opportunity to engage with leading policy makers and legal thinkers, participate in rigorous debate and discussion of critical legal and public policy issues, and contribute to the development of a progressive vision of the Constitution, the law and public policy.
